Vox Suavis builds musical bridges across time

in search of new keys for the interpretation of early music

Vox Suavis

The music of Vox Suavis seeks to bridge Medieval and Rennaisance repertoires with traditional oral music to discover new keys for the interpretation of early music.

The sources of their work are recordings and songbooks from the early 20th centry, and unique early music sources. Informed by their research, the ensemble has created a unique style which casts these parallel musical traditions in a new light, giving audiences a richer perspective.

Rosarieros

RELIGIOUS POLYPHONIC MUSIC and EL MISTEREI D’ELX

In the Spanish province of Teruel, the brotherhood Los Rosarieros de Híjar has been singing devotional music every holiday before dawn since time immemorial. The archaic character of this repertoire has been maintained to the present day.

Vox Suavis frames this music with pieces from El Misteri d’Elx. The selected pieces, both monodies and polyphonies, create a perfect link to the traditional repertoire chosen for this program.
