Vox Suavis is a music ensemble based in Basel, Switzerland. Their music creates bridges between Medieval and Renaissance repertoires, and traditional oral music, finding new keys for the interpretation of early music.
The sources of Vox Suavis’ work are recordings and songbooks from the first half of the 20th century, as well as specially chosen early music sources ranging from the Medieval to the Baroque period. Informed by their research, the ensemble has created a unique style which casts these parallel musical traditions in a new light, giving audiences a richer perspective
Released on French label Aparte in 2015, their album La voz del olvido received warm reviews in Germany, France, Switzerland, and Spain. Toccata early music magazine exclaimed “old and new knowledge walking together… A treasure has finally been discovered!”

The ensemble was founded in 2002 by Ana Arnaz (soprano and percussion), Dominique Vellard (tenor and oud), and Baptiste Romain (fiddles and bagpipes) at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. Since then, they have brought their music to various festivals in Spain, France, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany
